The RELIANCE was the largest single masted boat to compete in the America's Cup. She carried over 16,000 sq. ft. of sail area and a crew of 62 men! RELIANCE was the crowning achievement of designer and building Nathanael G. Herreshoff. Skippered by Charlie Barr, the RELIANCE won all three races against the SHAMROCK III in 1903.
